Healthy Food Ideas

I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite healthy meals and snacks. Lately I’ve been trying to reduce my sugar intake and increase how much water I drink. My newest favorite salad to make is a spinach and mixed greens salad topped with lots of vegetables and a little goat cheese. Danny loves it, and so do I!

For this salad I added: goat cheese, broccoli, corn, mushrooms, tomatoes, tomatoes, and a drizzle of balsamic vinaigrette.

In case you didn’t know, goat cheese is one of the healthier cheeses. It’s also easier for digestion. The soft goat cheese makes for the perfect topping to salads, etc. Goat cheddar cheese tastes delicious and paired with some wheat crackers makes for a really great snack.

My favorite protein bar is called the Perfect Bar! It’s full of nutrients and the good kinds of fat. Costco sells a box of them including my favorite flavor: the dark chocolate crisp! They’re a low glycemic food choice and are so fresh that they need to be refrigerated.

Another healthy snack idea is a combination of fresh blueberries and cauliflower pretzels. I found these pretzels at Whole Foods, and they’re actually really good! Blueberries are chock-full of vitamins that function as antioxidants.

Another healthy dinner that I love (especially during summer) is when Danny grills lean chicken on the grill. Just add some grilled asparagus and basmati rice, and you’ll get most of the important food groups in one meal. When I cook asparagus, I love to spritz some avocado oil on to it using the misto. Avocado oil is safer to use with high cooking temperatures and the misto helps to prevent over-applying oil.
